Q: Why Massage Therapy?

A: Massage therapy is physically relaxing, mentally stimulating.....and just feels good! The busier and more stressful our lives become, the greater our need for an oasis in which to relax, unwind and reflect. Massage Therapy has been around for centuries and has become a part of modern day self-care regimes, sharing equal importance with the dentist, doctor and fitness programs.

Q: What should I look for in a Massage Therapist?

A: The style of therapy varies as much as the number of therapists. Find a therapist who you can talk to and makes you comfortable. We specialize in therapy treatments and take pride in working one-on-one to address our client's specific needs. If you have any questions or you're looking for a massage therapist, give us a call...we can help.

Q: I'm recovering from surgery, can massage therapy aid in my recovery?

A: Absolutely. Naturally, when your activity levels slow down, your body slows down. Massage Therapy aids the body activity by increasing the effectiveness of the lymphatic and circulatory systems, which has proven to aid in the recovery from injury or even surgery. In fact, most hospitals are now adding massage therapy as an optional service for many patients. But, to be safe, remember to always check with your primary physician before beginning any alternative program.

Q: Why should I drink water after a Massage?

A: Two answers.....1) Drink water BEFORE massage, too! Pre-hydration is simply good for the body. 2) Like most of us, you should be drinking more water than you probably are now! In the case of massage and it's impact on the body, therapy releases toxins from the tissues in your body. It's the job of the lymphatic system and the circulatory system to collect these toxins and process them. Without water these systems become sluggish and the toxins can be reabsorbed into the tissues, contributing to such conditions as back pain and arthritis. One to two glass of water per day is a minimum recommendation. It is a good rule of thumb is to drink 50% of your bodyweight in ounces per day, so if you weigh 100 pounds, drink 50 ounces of water per day. You can't drink too much water!

Q: Can people who are in the sun a lot receive peels?

A: Yes, only if they are compliant with using sunscreen protection. Directly following a treatment and during peeling, sunbathing should be avoided. If you are getting peels to lighten the skin, pHaze I3 Light N' Block® Pigment Cream SPF 25+ is ideal to reduce any change of further hyperpigmenation.

Q: What skin type or condition will benefit most from the Pumpkin Peel and what results are expected?

A: The Pumpkin Peel is best used for dull, asphyxiated skin or acne. It provides nutrient input and will brighten the skin. It's also great on very sun damaged skin that has lumps and bumps.

Q: Can pregnant or lactating women receive a peel?

A: No. We recommend only the Oxygenating Trio Facial for pregnant or lactating women. Consult you physician for a personal recommendation.

Q: My skin is very thin. Why would I want to peel? Wouldn't that make my skin thinner?

A: If your skin is dry and thin, often there is a buildup of dead cells that actually keeps your home care products from penetrating. Having an Ultra Peel® or Sensi Peel® exfoliating treatment will remove that surface build-up, hydrate the skin and give it a more plump, "thicker" appearance. The use of topical vitamin C products in a treatment, as well as in your home care program, will help to build the collagen in your skin, thus making it stronger and more durable.

Q: What are RejuveLux treatment sessions like?

A: Quick and easy! After your initial preparation, your treatment provider will move the Palomar pulsed light handpiece over your skin. The handpiece emits a light that breaks up the pigment in the lesions. Most people perceive the light at a gently "snapping" sensation, which causes little to no discomfort.
